TWELVE HOURS FOR THE HOMELESS
12 Hours for the Homeless is Youth in Transition's most significant annual fundraiser.
Up to 50 teams of 10 people (max.) collect pledges from their communities,
families, and friends, and come together to build cardboard shelters in Officer's Square,
in the middle of downtown Fredericton, NB. Teams spend the night in their shelters in support
of Chrysalis House, but in acknowledgement of the reality that homelessness is our collective shame and responsibility.
WHEN: Saturday October 15, 2011(6:00PM - 6:00AM)
WHERE:
Officer's Square, Fredericton
IT'S ABOUT MORE THAN MONEY
12 Hours for the Homeless helps to achieve three important goals:
- To raise awareness - about the injustices faced by young women on the streets, the realities of homelessness in New Brunswick, the societal causes of homelessness, and the need for persistent attention on promoting women's equity.
- To foster collaboration - between the residents of Chrysalis House, the government of New Brunswick, concerned citizens, and our socially responsible corporate partners.
- To raise much needed funds to operate Chrysalis House! A residence putting focus into the lives of homeless and at risk teenage girls by education, social interaction, and life skills development.
